In mainland Europe and elsewhere, Aparthotels are a popular alternative to the standard hotel room due to the provision of self-catering equipment and the homely nature of the interiors, however these are not so common in Ireland. During the pandemic the owners of the Gold Coast Resort in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford had time to reassess their existing 3-star offering, reviewing running costs as well as examining customer requirements and decided that an Aparthotel offering would be ideal to meet certain client requirements and expectations much better.
The client’s vision and design brief was clear; to create contemporary, comfortable interiors relevant to the coastal location, where guests, of all demographic profiles, would feel at home particularly for long stays. The design needed to be universal, to be suitable for both families on holidays, and for executive guests looking for corporate long stay accommodation.
